Tuna Sushi Recipe

Tuna sushi is a traditional Japanese dish that is both delicious and nutritious. This recipe combines sushi-grade tuna and avocado with other classic ingredients to create a flavorful and filling meal.

  • Prep Time: 40 minutes
  • Cook Time: 18 minutes
  • Total Time: 58 minutes

Instructions

  • Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until it is clear.
  • In a medium saucepan, bring the rice and water to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and cook for 18 minutes.
  • Allow to cool for 10 minutes after removing from the heat.
  • In a small saucepan, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt and heat until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add the vinegar mixture to the rice in a large mixing bowl.
  • To combine, gently stir everything together.
  • Toss the tuna in a bowl with the soy sauce, mirin, and wasabi paste.
  • Place a nori sheet on a sushi mat or piece of plastic wrap.
  • Cover the nori with a thin layer of sushi rice, leaving a 1-inch border at the top.
  • Arrange slices of tuna and avocado on top of the rice.
  • Roll up the sushi and shape it with the mat or plastic wrap.
  • Rep with the rest of the ingredients.
  • Serve each roll cut into 8 pieces with pickled ginger and soy sauce.
