Sesame Salmon Nigiri Sushi Recipe

Fresh salmon and sushi rice are topped with a flavorful soy sauce mixture and sesame seeds in this traditional Japanese dish.

Ingredients

  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 45 minutes

Instructions

  • Rinse the sushi rice in cold water until it is clear.
  • Bring the rice and 2 cups of water to a boil in a pot.
  • Reduce the heat to low, cover, and allow to cook for 20 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt and stir until dissolved.
  • Transfer the cooked rice to a large mixing bowl and gently stir in the vinegar mixture.
  • Place the rice on a baking sheet and set aside to cool to room temperature.
  • Slice the salmon into small pieces and top with sesame seeds.
  • Whisk together the soy sauce, mirin, and honey in a small bowl.
  • Form the rice into small rectangles and top each with a piece of salmon.
  • Serve the salmon with the soy sauce mixture.
